Frightful Short: Curse of the Myrabelle

The Myrabelle was merely a legend among space pirates. Once a mighty vessel, it had been lost in a catastrophic battle centuries ago, its crew wiped out to the last man. Rumors swirled about the ship, tales of a cursed treasure hidden deep within its hull, guarded by the vengeful spirits of its fallen crew.

Captain Xeno, a grizzled pirate with a thirst for adventure and a disregard for superstition, found the last known location of the Myrabelle and decided to investigate the treasure himself. His crew, a motley assortment of criminals and misfits, followed him with a mix of excitement and trepidation, hearts set on glory and jewels.

After years of searching, they finally found the Myrabelle. It was a ghostly sight, its hull scarred and pitted, its windows dark and empty. As they boarded, a strange silence fell over the crew. The air was thick with an eerie stillness, and the ship seemed to creak and groan as if in pain.

They ventured deeper into the Myrabelle, their flashlights cutting through the darkness. The ship was a labyrinth of twisting corridors and hidden compartments, each one more unsettling than the last. They found the captain's quarters, a once-luxurious room now filled with dust and decay. A strange, glowing orb hung suspended on cushion of air above the captain's desk, pulsating with an otherworldly light.

As Xeno reached out to touch the orb, a chilling scream echoed through the ship. The lights flickered and died, plunging them into complete darkness. A cold wind howled through the corridors, and the ship seemed to shudder violently. Then, from the shadows, a pair of glowing eyes appeared, followed by another, and another. The spirits of the Myrabelle's fallen crew had risen from their slumber, their anger and vengeance burning bright. There was no hope for Captain Xeno's crew as their screams were lost to the darkness.
