During the night, the tropical front that was already in the Gulf of Mexico strengthened to Tropical Depression Chris, which has since moved inland in Mexico and also affecting Central America.
The big news that is flooding the feeds is Hurricane Beryl working its way towards the United States and/or Mexico. Beryl spun up and formed a central eye on June 30th making it the first Hurricane 4, in recorded history, to form in the Month of June. This level of activity generally shows up in late July and into August making the point, once again, that this is going to be a very active hurricane season!
What does that mean for us? If you haven't already been prepping, NOW is the time to do it. Waiting until it, or another system, is in the Gulf of Mexico will possibly not give you enough time to secure belongings and stock up on food.
Update on Current tracking has Beryl barreling down on Mexico sometime during the weekend or early next week. Some weakening is expected to occur as Beryl crosses the Yucatan Peninsula. Texas still need to start preparing as some models do show a turn to the North North West once Beryl crosses the Yucatan Peninsula. Tropical advisories have been issued for most of the Gulf of Mexico with higher tides than normal.
We will have daily updates and more frequent ones should Beryl turn towards the Texas Coast.
